Home Inspection
Gulf Coast Mold Removal starts with a complete top to bottom inspection of your home to identify all the loci of fungal growth

Our professional mold inspection is an examination of the current condition of your house or business. It is the same method followed by a doctor when you go for an exam or visit:

  1. Gather information

    • Your inspector will ask questions about the symptoms that you or your family are experiencing, or what problems your office or residence is having. History of the building and any changes in the building that may have had to create the mold is also determined.
    • Most mold inspectors will have a detailed checklist that they will use to collect information.
    • Some examples:
      http://www.IAQforms.com or http://www.cdc.gov//Environmental/
  2. Conduct a thorough visual inspection. Some of the items that your inspector will look for include:

    • Do any of the home residents or building occupants suffer from any of the most frequent general mold health symptoms?
    • Are trees and other plants growing too close to the home or building? Is the land around the building sloping away from the building or toward the building? This unsafe condition can bring excess water to the building and cause water intrusion into the building's foundation, concrete slabs and basement walls.
    • Is the roof in good repair? Are the shingles in good shape? Are there cracks or holes in flashings around plumbing vent pipes and air conditioning units?
    • In the attic, are there water stains or mold growth on the underside of the roof decking, the roof joists, and attic floor or on and beneath insulation?
    • Are there physical signs or evidence of water intrusion or mold growth anywhere in water-oriented rooms such as bathrooms, the kitchen, utility room and the laundry room?
    • Are there water stains, water damage areas or suspicious discolorations of any other ceilings, walls, floors and furniture that would indicate a problem of mold?
    • Is there hidden water moisture inside wall cavities, beneath floors, above ceilings, or behind ceramic tiles of bathroom walls, tubs and showers?
    • Has the property ever experienced roof leaks, water leaks, floods, or other water problems and water intrusions?
    • Is the humidity level of the crawl space, basement, attic, or any room of the building higher than 50% humidity? Humidity levels above 50% level in any area of the home can provide sufficient moisture to enable mold to grow.
    • Is there mold contamination inside the building's heating, ventilating, and air conditioning system (HVAC) and/or ducts?

  3. In answering these questions, Gulf Coast Mold Removal will use indicator and diagnostic measurements such as a digital hygrometer, intrusive and nonintrusive moisture meters and flexible inspection bar scope camera.

  4. Our mold inspector can provide a complete report of the findings. If a written report will be required, Gulf Coast Mold Removal has complete experience in writing these documents.
